According to a news daily, officers of the Food Safety and Drug Administration department of Lucknow stumbled on a 2 1-kg package of Aawla Murabba that’s factory-made by Patanjali Ayurved which mentioned the date of producing the product as Oct 20, 2016 whereas its expiry date has been mentioned as Oct 19, 2017
The product has already reached the market shelves in Lucknow’s sales outlet. The FSDA officials told the new daily that since the product is associate ayurvedic drugs, thus it doesn’t qualify as a foodstuff. The officers have collected the samples from 5 totally different outlets of the town to establish the quality of the food products.
The sealed sample of the murabba is being sent to the laboratory for testing and knowledge has been sent to the director of ayurvedic services in Uttarakhand. According to the daily, Dr Shiv Kumar Verma, drug inspector (headquarter), board of directors of Ayurveda, UP said, “Furnishing wrong info regarding the merchandise ultra vires the provisions of the Drug & Cosmetic Act.”
