An Indian company developed the vaccine to fight against Zika

A Hyderabad based vaccines and bio-therapeutic manufacturer company Bharat Biotech, on Wednesday claimed, that they make a breakthrough in developing a vaccine to fight against the dreaded mosquito-borne Zika virus, which causes the serious birth defects in children.

Krishna Ella, CMD Bharat Biotech, said that, “Bharat Biotech is the home of some most brilliant minds in the world and began vaccine work on the Zika virus a year ago”.

“We have two type vaccines in growth. One is an inactivated vaccine that is in the stage of pre-clinical testing in animals”.

As per WHO report, Zika is now present in 23 countries and Brazil smashed badly by Zika, has reported around 3,530 Zika cases of the shocking birth defect, called microcephaly, in 2015 that are suspected to be related with Zika.

“We hope for the best to announce the arrival of Zikavac in the world as early as possible”.

Zika virus spreads through mosquitoes of the Aedes genus, which can rise in a pool of water as small as a bottle cap and normally bite during the day. The mosquito transferred infection is related to Dengue, Yellow Fever and West Nile virus.

“The women of child-bearing age and expecting women are the major target group for Zika virus vaccine, we consider security as the intervening factor in development of a new vaccine for virus. The vaccine methods established early on, before the distressing significances of the waves in Brazil came to light, given us a push to quicken vaccine development”.
