MEXICO CITY — Nearly six months when he escape from a most security jail in Mexico, the drug kingpin Joaquín Guzmán Loera, also referred to as El Chapo, has been arrested by the Mexican authorities, according to the Twitter feed of the country’s president, Enrique Peña Nieto.
The arrest came after an intense gun battle this morning in the town of Los Mochis, a sea-side space in Mr. Guzman’s home state of Sinaloa.
“Mission Accomplished: we’ve him,” browse the tweet from Mr. Peña Nieto. “I would really like to tell the Mexican people that Joaquin Loera Guzman has been detained.”
The mission began shortly before five a.m. Friday, After an anonymous tip came in from a citizen concerned about armed men in a nearby home.
