The science of kissing is called #philematology – and an aversion to kissing is called philemaphobia. The most important muscle in kissing is the #orbicularis oris, also known as the kissing muscle, which allows the lips to ‘#pucker.’ While a quick pucker kiss uses just two muscles, a full on #French_kiss involves all 34 muscles in the face. The term ‘French kiss’ came into the #English language after #British soldiers saw how passionately the French kissed while visiting during #World_War I. The scientific term for French kissing is ‘#cataglottism’. Sounds revolting! 90 percent of people kiss. Which means that 10 pecent don’t! Abstainers include some Sudanese who refuse to kiss because they believe that the #mouth is the window to the #soul – and they could have their soul stolen in a #mouth-to-mouth kiss. And #eskimos, #Polynesians and #Malaysians, who #bump noses together instead of lips.
