Bollywood star Akshay Kumar says he got emotional while shooting for his coming film Airlift that is regarding the real story of evacuation of Kuwait-based Indians throughout the Iraq-Kuwait war in 1990.
“This did happen to me. I got a bit choked once. I think this can happen to anyone, who cares for the individuals and country because the film is regarding somebody who cared for his country and sacrificed plenty. i believe once the individuals will watch it they’re going to feel it,” Akshay, told reporters last night while promoting the film.
On the film, which releases January 22, he said war is simply the backdrop.
“It’s not a war film and it isn’t regarding destruction. It is just the story of how individuals were saved from that war zone,”
Akshay said adding that the real-life hero had gone unnoticed.
“He had gone unnoticed. Not many of us know about him. Hope he will get recognition with this film,” He said.
The biggest heroes according to him were the pilots of Air India who had the heart to fly in a warzone to rescue people.
“Hats off to the pilots who went there,” Akshy kumar said.
On his selection of action films, Akshay said he desires to keep testing his skills and can shortly come back up with Housefull 3, a slapstick comedy.
